Photography and Workshops

Enhance your photography skills and explore new local experiences with a quality Photo Tour Guide. My name is Craig and I’m here to guide you on your next memorable trip.

Each of our workshops run for 2-3 hours, starting from First Fleet Park in Circular Quay, and include basic instruction in the use of your digital camera.  We will take you to the best spots to capture The Rocks and Circular Quay areas of Sydney.  You will learn when and how to use the Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and Manual modes of your camera to combine shutter speed, aperture and exposure, along with tips on composition to allow you to take awesome photos to impress your friends and family.

  • Shoot sunrise from Circular Quay. If the timing is right, we will be able to catch an awesome cruise ship sailing in.

  • Capture the imposing Harbour Bridge, unique Opera House and colourful City all in the one composition from Mrs Macquarie's Point at sunset.

  • During the Night Workshop, you will learn how to shoot long exposure light trails on the Harbour, using full Manual mode and tripod.

  • You will see the back streets of Sydney, historical buildings and quirky areas during our Daytime Workshop. 

  • NEW - Private Beginners Photography Workshop. Learn to take awesome photos by using your camera in the field, not from reading a book.  Perfect for individuals or couples wanting to take their photography to the next level.

  • Friendly, fun and knowledgeable teacher,

  • Maximum of 5 people on the night workshops and 10 people on the sunrise, sunset and daytime workshops so you get more personal and thorough instruction.

Welcome to CityScape Photography Workshops

If you love walking and want to see another side of Sydney while learning the basics of photography book yourself, family and friends into one of our Photography Workshops

SUNRISE WORKSHOP

$60 per person - 2 hours

Learn to shoot sunrise from blue hour through to golden hour, with the added bonus of having Sydney's most recognisable icons included in your composition.  The lights of the city coupled with the deep, dark blue of the pre-dawn sky looks amazing.  Catch the sun rising behind the Sydney Opera House (hopefully with a gorgeous cruise ship sailing in) or the sun reflecting golden light off the Harbour Bridge.

SUNSET WORKSHOP

$60 per person - 2 hours

Shoot an amazing sunset with the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and city skyline all in the one composition.  Capture the sun reflecting off the water amid the myriad boats sailing through the harbour.  Once again, you may be lucky enough to catch a cruise ship leaving the harbour.  Depending on the conditions, we may go to Barangaroo and see the sunset with Balmain and the ANZAC Bridge as a backdrop.

NIGHT WORKSHOP

$100 per person - 2 hours

During the night workshop, you will learn how to use your camera on full Manual mode.  Catch the city in all its lit up glory, with the many marine vessels cruising around the harbour making for fantastic light trail photography.  We may head to the Cahill Expressway for an eagle eye view of Circular Quay, which is the hub for the many ferries.  If time and interest allows, we can even step through some basic timelapse photography.  For this workshop, you will certainly require a tripod.

DAYTIME WORKSHOP

$90 per person - 3 hours

Explore the back streets and alleyways of The Rocks, a historic and very photogenic part of Sydney.  Sandstone buildings, quirky art installations and many other amazing sights are waiting to be discovered.  With the abundance of available light during the daytime tour, the focus will be more on photographic composition and creativity.  I am more than happy to take suggestions on this workshop, and all others for that matter, if any fellow photographer would like to experiment with something different.

VIVID SYDNEY WORKSHOP

August 2021 - dates TBA

$150 per person - 3 hours

During the Vivid Sydney night workshop, you will learn how to use your camera on full Manual mode. Catch the city in all its lit up glory, with the many marine vessels cruising around the harbour making for fantastic light trail photography. We will head to the Cahill Expressway for an eagle eye view of Circular Quay, which is the hub for the many ferries. If time and interest allows, we can even step through some basic time-lapse photography. For this workshop, you will certainly require a tripod and a full battery.

** Please note that Friday-Sunday nights are the most crowded during Vivid.

PRIVATE BEGINNER WORKSHOP

$350 per person - 4 hours

Our 4 hour private photography workshops are run either at night on weekdays or any time during the day on weekends.

Rather than learning the theory of photography in a classroom, you will be out in the fresh air learning theory and practice at the same time.  You can immediately put into action what you are learning throughout the workshop, which will help it to stick in your mind.

You will surely come away a much better photographer enabling you to take your photography to new heights.

You will learn about light and exposure (shutter speed, aperture, ISO), composition and much more.  These workshops can be tailored to suit your needs, depending where you are on your photographic journey.
